Construction began in 1868 and the lighthouse was lit on December 1, 1870
Height:  208 feet
Stairs:  268
Day Markings:  2 black and 2 graduated stripes. 
Each stripe is 25.5 feet wide at the base and 13.5 feet wide at the top
Light Pattern:  7.5 seconds off, 7.5 seconds on
Beam Range:  24 nautical miles
Ownership:  accquired by the National Park Service in 1936
